Regatta Fireworks tradition is saved for another year

2009 Regatta Firework display will go ahead. Despite the challenge of overcoming the Regatta's decision to withdraw their support the organisers James Brennan of Hofmanns and Angie Major of Blueberry Business have been working hard to raise sponsorship from local businesses. Several businesses have confirmed their support including headline sponsors Tesco Henley and The Copas Partnership.

David Sherlock, Store Manager at Tesco Henley said "We are pleased to be a main sponsor this year for the Regatta Fireworks. We know the Regatta is a key event in our town that has been enjoyed by thousands of families, many of which are our loyal customers, culminating in a fantastic fireworks display at the end of the Regatta. Therefore we were glad to step in this year to help ensure the fireworks still go ahead for the whole community to enjoy." Sarah Copas also said "We are pleased to support the Fireworks this year because it is such a highlight for Henley residents and Regatta goers on Saturday evening. It is fantastic that the local business community have pulled together to make it happen."

A40 Fireworks will fire the display on 4th July at 10pm from Sham Hill where the fireworks will be visible from prominent places along the river. After hearing that the Henley Regatta display was cancelled they decided to offer their help. They believe that traditional events are too important to lose and could not see the Regatta Fireworks slip away!

Blueberry Business have also designed a new website to promote the Fireworks all year round.

About Regatta Fireworks

Fireworks have lit up Henley Royal Regatta since 1839 and today still remain a Saturday night showpiece. As far back as 1893 donation appeals have been made to fund the fireworks. Spectators, Henley businesses, residents and visitors are all encouraged to help ensure that this tradition continues.
